Jared I'm Not

As you all undoubtedly know, Subway has had a long running promotion of its food as low calorie and good for you, or at least better than other fast food places. Well, I have set out to prove them wrong. (Not intentionally.)

Some months ago I concocted a new sandwich there that I can't seem to get enough of. I get a footlong meatball marina on italian herbs and cheese bread. Double cheese with provolone, toasted. After it's toasted, shredded mozzarella cheese, olives, parmesan, ranch dressing, salt and pepper, and finally, oil and vinegar.

It may sound gross...certainly some of my coworkers have wrinkled their brows at it. Rebecca grimaces at the smell of it alone. But I'm telling you, this is so, soooo good.

And now the bad news. I recently went to Subway's website and calculated the caloric-intake damage.

For the sandwich alone, 1,720 calories. Holy cow! Usually I eat 1/2 a bag of Lay's salt and vinegar chips with it (115 calories) and a 20 oz. Dr. Pepper. (250 calories). Grand total: 2,085 calories.

Totally worth it, just not very often. Eat your heart out Jared. I'll bet he'd get back up to 425 pounds in no time eating two of those a day instead of his six inch turkey and footlong veggie per day.

I miss lunches with you. I think you eat well enough the rest of the time, that you totally deserve it when you splurge. you have a pretty strong will.

Very kind words. I wish they still applied, but from Thanksgiving until the bar I went off the diet and *gulp* put on 20 pounds. Doh!

The really depressing thing is that it took 1/3 of the time to put on weight as it took to get it off. Very irritating.
