This is probably my longest post yet, but a lot has happened.
We have successfully moved to the small town of Winnemucca, NV. The town has a little under 8,000 people, so it is very tiny. They do have a Walmart, so I suppose we will survive ;) Actually it seems really nice so far and we already have some friends. It sure did take a lot out of us to make the move though.
On Friday the 10th we had friends come and help load the U-haul around 6pm. Things went pretty quickly. We were able to get everything boxed up in time (which as always was quite a lot of work). Then Gary drove out on Saturday in the U-haul and unloaded our stuff in the new apartment he had found the week before. He was very fortunate that many of the people in our new ward came to help him unload. They got it all done in 45 minutes! We are very grateful to everyone who helped load and unload, so thank you to those who were able to come.
Next Gary had to jump on a train to come back to Provo. Train? Yes, train. That's pretty much the only way to go from Winnemucca. The only car rental place is an Enterprise and they don't do one way trips. So Gary got to ride a train back in the middle of the night. He was able to sleep, although not very soundly. Then Jeff came and picked him up from the train station in Provo and was kind enough to drive him down to Spanish Fork. Thank you Jeff, that was very generous of you. Also, thank you for letting us use your vaccuum.
I spent Saturday trying to clean the apartment. I discovered that cleaning a place like that is easier said than done. I worked up until 3am and still had tons left to do. Although James was being very good during this whole ordeal, he had had it by 8pm. He was very sweet when drinking his bottle that night. He would stop and then smack his lips for a kiss. He kept doing that for a while, it was very cute.
Sunday morning we worked hard and got the place cleaned by about 4pm. Then we stopped by Joe and Kamie's to say goodbye then hit the road. James did very well in the car and it took us about 6 hours to get there. We got in town at about 10pm at night. Luckily Gary was able to set up James' room on Saturday, so we were able to put James down fairly quickly. Although James was so tired that he refused to drink his bottle and didn't wake up to finish it until 6am. Poor kid had a rough week. Then we got our bed together and went to sleep ourselves.
Gary started work on Monday, which was pretty crazy. Things are very far behind, so he's going to have to be working very hard for a while to get caught up. Then Monday night we had a BBQ at his boss's house. That was lots of fun and we were able to meet all his co-workers. One of the wives, Joanna, invited me to the playgroup she goes to on Wednesdays. We were able to go and met a lot of nice mothers in the area. We also had one today that was a swim party at Joanna's house, it was lots of fun.
So far we haven't had any luck with houses yet, the ones we have looked at aren't what we would like. We're going to look at a few tomorrow as well. Right now I'm content with our apartment. It is very nice and I quite like it. It is a little smaller than we're used to (only 2 bedrooms and 1 bath), but the common areas and bathroom are great. The thing I like the best is the granite countertops, I'm being very spoiled. Here are some pictures of our new apartment:
Living Room and hallway back to the rooms
Living Room
Kitchen
Dining Room (which we are using as a storage room mainly)
Bathroom sinks (the toilet and shower are in their own separate little room, which I like a lot)
Our view from the front windows
The view from the back windows
It has been very crazy these past few weeks, but I'm finally starting to feel settled in. We have all been very tired. I've been having to take naps to recover from the missed sleep when we were getting things ready to move. Here is a picture of how we felt all last week.

Hey... I've been through Winnemuca!
Granted, it was the middle of the night on a 12-hour drive to a friends' wedding in Austin, NV, in the morning. I don't recall anything except hitting rabbits in the dark.
:D
Oh my goodness, I hate moving so much. Just reading this post made me feel like I was going to start hyperventilating! I think that's awesome that Gary rode the train. It dropped him off at the stop right by our old place, didn't it? Something about that just speaks of coming full circle! I'm sad that you three are so far away, but I'm glad you've made friends already. That's awesome. I'm still hoping that our ward has a playgroup. I haven't heard of anything yet. Maybe I'll have to start one, but that kind of makes me tired to think about. I want everyone else to do the work for me :)
HOLY MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! lol we "lived" in Elko for a week... blech! ;) What took you guys there? I guess Gary's job? What does he do that would bring you there?
Yeah Sarah, middle of nowhere. Elko is like one of the closest "big" cities to us. Yeah, it was Gary's job that brought us here. He's an attorney. He's working for the county here. With the bad economy, we didn't want to risk turning anything down and then not having a job.
Bryce and I are going to miss you guys! Thanks for the update, we look forward to hearing more from Winnemucca...Good luck with everything!
I sympathize about the moving because I just moved across town and I hated it- glad you guys are settling in!
I'm so happy you're feeling settled in. Moving is hard...even when you're still in the same town. Good luck with everything. We miss you!!
I love the views. They look the same, reminds me of Mexico.
