Books I read in 2020

In a pandemic plagued year, you would perhaps think that I would have done more reading than usual, but that has not been the case.  Just a slight uptick in total number of books completed from recent years.  This year I read 33 works, as follows:

January

Running with the Demon - Terry Brooks
Measure for Measure - William Shakespeare
The Age of Revolution - Winston Churchill

February

Amber and Ashes - Margaret Weis
The Children of Hurin - J.R.R. Tolkien
The Book of Mormon - Various

March

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - Mark Twain
The Book of Mormon - Various
A Knight of the Word - Terry Brooks

April

Doctrine and Covenants - Various
The Great Democracies - Winston Churchill
Amber and Iron - Margaret Weis
The Pearl of Great Price - Various
The Magician's Nephew - C.S. Lewis
Beren and Luthien - J.R.R. Tolkien

May

Gone with the Wind - Margaret Mitchell

June

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis
Angel Fire East - Terry Brooks

July

Whirlwind: The American Revolution and the War that Won It - John Ferling
Troilus and Cressida - William Shakespeare
Amber and Blood - Margaret Weis

August

A Horse and His Boy - C.S. Lewis
Little Women - Louisa May Alcott

September

Ilse Witch - Terry Brooks

October

Mr. and Mrs. Madison's War: America's First Couple and the Second War of Independence - Hugh Howard
The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien
The Book of Mormon - Various

November

Prince Caspian - C.S. Lewis
Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte
The New Testament - Various

December

Antrax - Terry Brooks
The Dead March: A History of the Mexican-American War - Peter Guardino

Having now read a significant portion of the Shannara series, I have found that those books have really picked up.  I especially enjoyed the prequel-esque Knight of the Word  trilogy.  I also quite liked the concluding two volumes of Churchill's History of the English Speaking Peoples completed this year.  It should be apparent that I tackled some fairly significant classic works this year that I had never read before, and generally found them deserving of their reputation.

The 52 books in a year goal continues to elude me, and probably will for a long time.  Like the Twilight Zone episode, there is never enough time to read.  Perhaps upon retirement.

Tradition dictates a special shoutout to my very best friends.
