On Sunday December 9, I was on the phone with my parents until about 7 pm. When I came out, Rebecca said that she had been having hard contractions since about 5:30 or 5:45, and they were now coming about once every 5 minutes. We were all hungry because we hadn't eaten since lunch time, and at that point we thought it might be a false alarm. So I made some bacon and french toast and we ate, but by then the contractions were coming fast so we headed to the hosital.
The attending nurse later said that given Rebecca's demeanor she figured it would be a quick check, one hour wait for recheck and then sending us home, but little does she know her high pain tolerance and stoic determination. When she did check she was dilated to 5.5 cm, and they immediately admitted her.
We arrived at the hospital at 8:45 pm and our new son was born at 10:45 pm; just enough time to get an epidural and get him delivered. It was quite magnificent; Rebecca got him out on one contraction with four pushes; she is a real pro.
Mom and baby are healthy, well, and recovering. We went over there today to visit so James and Grace could meet their new sibling. Grace was a little cranky and after her nap I discovered she has a bit of a fever, so it explains her crankiness . Fortunately she didn't want much to do with Jack, probably because she wasn't feeling well; I'm hoping we can get the fever to break tonight before the baby comes home.
With that, here are some pictures and videos. Bear in mind that I didn't have my camera when we went to the hospital last night, so forgive the cell phone quality.

Such a cute kid! Congrats...
He is seriously so adorable. And that video made me even more baby hungry than I already was. So so cute.
Thanks everyone. He's a good little guy and we are very happy.
I can't believe you went ahead and made dinner when she was only 5 minutes between contractions. I hope that dinner was her idea, not yours! She is indeed a true superhero woman! My kind of girl. congratulations!
It was a mutual decision on dinner. :-)
