Focaccia Bread

This is a really simple recipe for Focaccia. It doesn't take very long and is very easy compared to most breads, rolls, etc. It tastes great with olive oil and vinegar.

Focaccia Bread
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 1 pinch pepper
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp parmesan
  • 1 cup mozzarella
Put sugar, warm water, and yeast in bowl. (I read one time that 105 degree water is good for activating yeast, those of you who make bread a lot probably know better than me). Let sit for 10 minutes. Add salt, garlic, oregano, thyme, basil, and pepper. Add vegetable oil and flour. Knead until smooth and elastic. Oil bowl and place dough in bowl, turning to coat. Cover with damp cloth and let rise 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Punch dough down, place on greased baking sheet. Pat into 1/2 inch thick rectangle. Brush top with olive oil. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

I never get very nice pictures of my food; but I guess I've never claimed to be a photographer. So I'm sorry about it being out of focus.
