A Christmas Card. Yes, we're cheap.

With this Christmas Card, we are happy to announce that we are still alive and have not entirely withdrawn from the blogosphere. I suppose we've just been busy, that's all. I'm not entirely thrilled with our Christmas Card photo above, but with two kids, you take the best you get, tie messed up or not. This picture was taken t-minus 20 seconds from a meltdown from an extremely tired Grace, so that's the best we could do.

So in true Christmas Card fashion, a year end update:

Gary is still working as a Deputy District Attorney, doing child support enforcement, public administration, public guardianship, and forfeitures. He has also added a small criminal case load, which he has enjoyed tremendously. He will soon be posting about the books he read in 2010, following the lead of a friend who made a similar blog post last year. Gary is once again the second counselor in the Elder's Quorum Presidency. As a third time around, it's becoming clear to him he hasn't gotten it right yet. He also enjoys writing in the third person.

Rebecca is quickly becoming supermom while juggling two young kids. Yet she still finds the time to teach a playschool class for James and some of his young compatriots along with a number of other teachers, and has handled the transition to two tykes with typical grace and aplomb. She also teaches in the primary, handling the Sunbeams each week. She has made many good friends in Winnemucca and has lately been experimenting with a lot of new recipes and becoming quite the chef. (The Christmas turkey, her first, was a particular triumph, I can tell you. So was the cheesecake. And chocolate pie. You get the idea.) She is also attempting to self-teach herself how to use a sewing machine. We have yet to see the fruits of this labor, but we anticipate it will appear soon.

James is doing great. He is a happy child for the most part, loves going to the nursery and playschool. He enjoys his toy cars and shooting hoops and playing with his toy golf clubs. He loved Christmas and has learned that it's something to look forward to in the future.

Grace has started to learn to use her hands and is a remarkably good baby. She sleeps long each night, and the only downside is some nights she won't go to sleep in a timely fashion. When not in need of something, she just smiles and smiles and coos. Sweet baby.

And that's about it. Hope everyone has a wonderful 2011.

Merry, merry Christmas and New Year! Love the card. Mailing Christmas cards out is overrated.

Always good to hear from you. I'm interested in the criminal case stuff you're doing, Gary. Sounds interesting. And Rebecca, that's awesome that you're teaching the preschool class. Do you come up with your own lessons? I have no idea how you do that with two babies. Oh, and anytime you want to share recipes on your blog, I'm sure Jared would be appreciative :)

Oh, and about the book list. That comes of a) not having a job b) not having TV (we can't afford cable and we don't get digital reception. It wasn't a philosophical decision to abstain.) and c) staying up really late at night. We have a New Year's resolution to be asleep by 10:30 this year, so I expect the book list to be much shorter for 2011
