First Bird at the Bird Feeder

This probably isn't as interesting to most people, but today I saw the first bird to eat from my bird feeder. I had asked for a bird feeder for my birthday, but the birds have had trouble finding it I guess. It took them about a month, but hopefully this bird will tell his friends.
I'm not sure what kind of bird it was; I didn't want to get too close and scare it away.

It can take a month or two for birds to find your feeder - you're right on target!

Our first birds didn't show up for 3 or 4 months when we were in our first place. But after they found us, we were refilling the little feeder at least once or twice a week. :)

Looks like a good feeder...

Thanks, that's good to know. I was beginning to give up hope a while ago, but I'm glad to know that that's normal.

Our first bird came within an hour of putting up our bird feeder and now we feed the whole neighborhood. I fill the feeder every day and they clean it out within the first hour of the morning. They're a mess too. I have to spray the patio every day because of all the bird poop. We get lots of pigeons which I hate too. I know they're just birds too, but I worry about them making a home in ours and our neighbor's roofs. It's kind of embarassing. I worry that we might be known as the bird people! Maybe you should feel lucky that you haven't gotten too many, although I do hope he tells a few friends.

To cut down on bird feeder mess, I got the pre-shelled patio kind from Walmart. We still get poop, but no shells!

Pre-shelled? I've never heard of it. We buy our seed at Wal-mart too, so I'll have to look for it. Thanks for the info!
